News / 22 May 2018Al Muhaidib Park Opening Under the Patronage of Prince Saud bin Naif
The Park was launched as a part of the "We Play Together" initiative, a project that is a first of its kind in the Kingdom. It serves as a live model that helps integrate children with disabilities with others, and its launch comes at the time of the silver jubilee ceremony of the "Eafa" Association for the Care of People with Disabilities.
The park resides on a total area of 7,000 m in Al Hada Neighborhood, constructed with the seven comprehensive design standards in mind. It includes a special needs restroom, equipped entrances to serve everyone including the blind. The park was designed with multiple considerations in mind to help children coexist, interact with each other, provide a safe space for families to spend time together, and encourage play as a learning tool.
This provides an opportunity for children from all backgrounds and capabilities to get closely acquainted with their peers and understand the obstacles children with special needs face every day. Ultimately, this inclusion will help get rid of the misconceptions about children with special needs and their capabilities.
Speaking on the importance of this type of park to the community, Executive Director, Sara Al Muhaidib said: “At Al Muhaidib Social Foundation, we adopt a strategy of inclusion that serves the community as a whole, focusing on early childhood. Al Muhaidib Park is the first project of its kind, hopefully setting a national standard for Saudi Arabia enabling us to contribute and promote the valuesof coexistence with our children and accept their characteristics and capabilities early on."
Al Muhaidib Social Foundation was established in 2014 in an effort to institutionalize the various social, charity, & philanthropic initiatives of the Al Muhaidib Group. Its focus today has expanded into child development initiatives with a special focus on children with disabilities through educational programs and hubs that enhance the sustainability of our society and leave a positive impact.
These efforts are governed by the values and principles that have led the philanthropic work of Al Muhaidib Group for the past 70 years.
